The Documentary
Seeds of Change (11 minutes) is a portrait of Dolores Huerta, a trailblazing grassroots community organizer, Chicano civil rights activist, feminist, and labor leader. Dolores continues to work in solidarity with farm workers, women, and other marginalized and exploited communities fighting for economic and social justice. The short documentary weaves together six themes that offer an accessible framework for introducing her lifelong work and legacy today.
The Lesson Guide
Using this short documentary, students in Civics, U.S. History, or ELA (English Language Arts) will learn about Dolores Huerta’s life and work by exploring six interdisciplinary themes in a jigsaw exercise examining these themes: Activism, Leadership, Unity, Empowerment, Equality, and Resilience.
